5 Tips For Holiday Entertaining

5 Tips For Holiday Entertaining

Simplify your holiday entertaining with these five easy tips. Roast turkey, buttery mashed potatoes and sage stuffing. Sugar cookies, Thymes Frasier Fir, and a crackling fire. These festive scents fill our houses with warmth and joy during the holidays, signaling a time for family, friends and parties. While many cherished moments are born at winter gatherings, hosting one isn’t always as easy as pie. Start with these tips from our knowledgeable and experienced staff to help you get in shape for the holiday craziness.  1. Take Stock of Your Supplies  Plan your menu about three weeks before your party to hammer out any new dishes or special dietary needs early. Check that you have the cookware, silverware and dinnerware for everything and everyone you’re serving; if you’re feeding a crowd, you might need more glasses. Remember basics such as: Dishwasher detergent Plastic wrap, foil, extra containers for left overs Roasting pans and cookie sheets Garbage Bags Napkins and linens Next, go through your pantry and refrigerator. Save yourself last-minute grocery sprints and make sure you have items such as: Cooking oil Coffee, tea, hot chocolate or cider Wine, beer, cocktail mixers, non-alcoholic selections  Seasons and spices Baking essentials: flour, sugar, baking soda and powder 2. Make Sure Your Appliances are Clean and Working Properly  Test out your appliances well before the holidays to avoid any unneeded headaches.  Clear out your dishwasher drain and run a cycle with a cup of white vinegar followed by a short, hot cycle with baking soda.  Use your oven’s self-cleaning cycle at least three weeks before your party — especially if it’s older — rather...

11 Reasons to Choose Seaside Casual Outdoor Furniture

11 Reasons to Choose Seaside Casual Outdoor Furniture

Seaside Casual is one of our favorite outdoor furniture lines. Aside from being on sale, below are 11 reason why we love Seaside Casual. 1. Made in the USA 2. Maintenance Free – Keep your Seaside Casual out all year long, simply hose the furniture down each spring and your furniture will look just like it did when you bought it.  3. Envirowood – a 100% High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) lumber made from recycled plastic water bottles and containers. Envirowood is permeated with UV stabilized  pigments that are consistent throughout the entire piece. The result is a smoother, more durable finish that prevents chalking and resists fading of the surface.  4. Indoor Comfort – Our wood is milled and routered to simulate the look and feel often found in traditional wood furniture. Joints are secured with mortise and tenon joinery and edges and corners are milled on precise CNC machinery. 5. Stainless Fasteners – All stainless steel fasteners are not created equal. Seaside Casual uses marine grade stainless steel (316) to ensure superior protection when exposed to elements. 6. Solid as a Rock – Unlike sheet molded products, Seaside Casual frames are constructed with HDPE lumber components that are designed to withstand temperature and load changes. Structural aluminum is used to reinforce critical frame members in key locations. The result is a product that will not tip, topple, or turn over on your patio, lawn or deck. 7. Slats and Spaces – Appropriately  spaced slats are the difference between support and the feeling of “falling through” the seat or back of your chair. Seaside Casual has this perfected so you feel comfortable and secure. 8. It Only Has a Good...
Thanksgiving Traditions Are What Make This Holiday So Special

Thanksgiving Traditions Are What Make This Holiday So Special

Thanksgiving Traditions, To Make The Day Special for Generations. For as long as I can remember, Thanksgiving has been my favorite holiday. To me, it’s a holiday without high expectations and a relaxing time to be with family.  Of course, I love the traditional food, but it’s the family time that makes it so special. I remember one year, before children,  we picked up our dinner at Econo Food in a paper bag on our way up to visit Door County with Don’s parents.  Canned yams , a turkey and rolls in a bag didn’t make for a spectacular meal, but we had an amazing weekend playing games and relaxing.   I am very blessed that my mother in law, Cozy, always hosts the Thanksgiving dinner.  She makes a meal that should be featured in Southern Living magazine.  Every time we discuss trying a new dish someone protests that we can’t do away with their favorite dish – for my father in law it’s oyster dressing, my husband loves the cranberry relish, my daughters love her Alabama biscuits and I am a huge fan of her dressing.   Traditions are what make the holidays so memorable.  I love when we go around the table and tell what we are thankful for this year.  The lists have certainly changed through the years, but not the tradition. Cozy sets an exquisite table for both Thanksgiving and Christmas – complete with linens, unique centerpieces and beautiful dishes.  I love that her tables always have something new and something that has been in the family for generations (like the salt cellars).  This is...
