In 1994, Don and Polly Helm relocated from Lexington, Kentucky to Door County, Wisconsin with the dream of starting their own business. Along with Don's parents, Donald & Cozy Helm, they opened Door County Nature Works in Egg Harbor in May 1994.
They began their home furnishings and accessories store in a 750 sq. foot rustic barn. By creating a unique shopping experience and gaining a loyal customer base, today their business features over 5,000 sq. feet of merchandise and includes an interior design business called designworks.
